MBENGWI HOSPITAL MATERNITY RENOVATION
PROJECT PHASE I - 2010

As of 2010 this public health facility under the administration of the Public Health Department in Momo Division, was experiencing an infrastructural run down which affected its services to the population. The Maternity wards, delivery equipment, beds, toilet facilities all had to be given a face lift. The above was background to the decision to sponsor the Maternity project by MECUDA NorCal. At the end of the project, the Mbengwi General Hospital Administration (maternity ward staff inclusive) was presented with an entirely renovated maternity ward comprising of private rooms, a new toilet facility with provisions for laundry both in and out of the building. The interior and exterior parts of the wards were painted and landscaping renovated as well.

MBENGWI WATER PROJECT -2017

This Blind & Handicapped Center had of recent suffered severe water shortage due to the dilapidated and aged water tank at Kobeyang in Bome. So the local population (Kobeyang school, village, palace ) that relied on same source was in the same scenario. So the quest for a storage tank became a concern because an attempt for a bore hole had failed. So the opportunity for a storage tank to serve this growing community became a priority. In addition, since the foundation of A Better World Orphanage in 2010, the institution had been facing a great water challenge. As a result, the children had been trekking miles to fetch water from a stream which isn't good enough for drinking. This was another community-based project that was in line with one of the goals of MECUDA NorCal. The project began in late 2017 and was completed spring 2018. The project was completed as envisaged and it serves a community of over 500 people.
MBENGWI HOSPITAL MATERNITY RENOVATION PROJECT PHASE II -2013

This project was a follow up to the 2010 renovation of the Maternity Ward. Reports from the health providers (maternity ward nurses) indicated that there was a need for a modern delivery bed to facilitate the delivery process and ensure the comfort and safety of mothers and their newly born babies. With the constant outrages resulting from power failure there was a need for a stand by generator to ensure the flow of power. In the light of these pertinent requests, MECUDA NorCal raised funds that were used to purchase these equipments that were later handed to the hospital.
